Board Meeting Minutes
June 12, 2012

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. ROLL CALL: Present Jose’ Castillo, Dee & Bob Hightower, Louie & Paulette Walters. Absent: Mike Mason, Tom Reese, Jon Cameron and Anna Parrish. Others present: Andy Kearney.

Secretary: Paulette Walters read the minutes of the board meeting held on 3/13/12; minutes were approved as amended to read “Jim Mitchell – 16 days”.

Treasurer’s Report: Dee Hightower’s report attached; approved subject to audit. She reported the security cost has risen $.01 for next year. Andy Kearney paid dues & became annual member.

Correspondence: Received letter, 2 DVDs & $1000 donation from Harry Atwood & thank you sent; received letter & $100 donation in memory of Alice Kendall from Larry Ramer & thank you sent; letter from National Wildlife Federation confirming our membership as of 4/2012 #091378875. Thank you sent to Elks Lodge for their $500 donation. Get well card sent to Andy Kearney. Letter sent to Carol Lungren regarding painting of Tom Childs.

Officer Reports:
President/Curator Louie Walters: President Louie reported the Ajo Museum was open 231 days from 10/22/11 – 6/11/12, 38 more days than last season.

VicePresident Mike Mason no report.

Committee Reports:
  1. Fund raising exceptional for May. Andy Kearney donated 50’ of hose. Joe Mandich donated a 1st edition set of Charlie Gaetjens’ books.
  2. Brochures will be reprinted.
  3. Building committee – Jose Castillo is checking on rubberized paint for roof & will try to get cooler going; Mike MacFarlane is checking into replacing missing roof tiles & a roofer.
  4. Andy Kearney is working on scrapbook for border patrol & Ajo Assembly of God church.
  5. Jose working on project of Ajo’s importance in WWII, gathering mine pictures, & information on Father Kino.
Old Business: Jon Cameron hadn’t paid his dues nor attended any meetings so he is no longer a member or on
the board. Dee nominated Andy Kearney to fill the vacant board seat for 20112013; motion passed. Museum website is up and running.

New Business: Discussion about roof paint. Bob made a motion that the board accept a vote by phone on the roof paint after a quote is received; seconded by Jose; passed unanimously. Dates and time called for the vote on the paint will be recorded.

Next Board Meeting: Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum.

Announcements: Annual audit afterward. Dee made a motion to adjourn; adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
