May, 2012 - Ajo Museum slows down for the summer Ajo board meeting

The Ajo Historical Society will cease daily operations of its Ajo Museum at the end of May, 2012. Lack of tourists and lack of a cooling system during the summer months are the two principal reasons for the seasonal closing. While exhibits will be covered during the offseason, hardy visitors may contact any of the guides or curator Louie Walters at 520 387 5698 for special arrangements. The museum is not at its best during the summer, but remains interesting.

Since opening in October 2011 through May 20, 2012 the Ajo Museum had nearly 2400 visitors. Per capita it is among the highest visited museums in the Southwest.

The Ajo Historical Society Board of Directors will hold a meeting on Tuesday June 12th at 6 PM at the Ajo Museum with an audit to follow.
